Non-Profit Board Member
Lungs at Work, a non-profit 501(c)(3) founded in 2002 is seeking Board members as part of its goal to diversify and expand its Board. Lungs at Work is the only free-standing Black Lung Clinic in the United States, located in McMurray, Pennsylvania, serves the coal mine-dense region of Western-Pennsylvania where nearly every county in this region has active or closed mines. It provides medical services, outreach and education, medical and benefit counseling, research, and lay advocacy to active, retired, disabled, and former coal miners and other individuals with occupational lung disease.
Working closely with Lungs at Work’s CEO and Board, the new Board Members will focus on future growth and help guide the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term sustainability.
Key Skills
Equipped with previous non-profit experience and skills in management, technology, finance, fundraising, or H.R.
Able to work as a team, and maintain strong relationships with others, including community partners, CEO and Board members.
Able to think and act strategically with an eye on the “big picture” of a dynamic, future-focused non-profit organization.
Ideally, some skills (or interest in learning) in relationship building and/or fundraising for successfully cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors.

Marketing and advertising.
Passionate about our mission and the impact of our work with coal miners and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Attend quarterly board meetings (approximately 2 hours each)
Review agenda and supporting documents prior to meetings.
Actively participate in the meetings and take on special assignments.
