Our Services

Lungs at Work is a full-service, nonprofit, Black Lung Clinic offering everything a miner needs for the diagnosis and treatment of their lung disease as well as the legal advocacy services needed to pursue a claim for Federal Black Lung Disability Benefits. We assist eligible miners and their dependents in developing the medical documentation needed to be successful in their claim for disability benefits.

Health Care Services

We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of Black Lung and other work-related pulmonary diseases. We provide annual lung screenings, both in our office and at community outreach events, to monitor the progression of your lung disease with state-of-the-art testing and the most up-to-date medical information regarding the diagnosis and treatment of coal mine dust related breathing problems. We closely monitor your disability level in order to best advise you regarding your chance of qualifying for disability benefits as your black lung disease progresses and worsens.

We welcome all who have difficulty breathing.

Legal Advocacy

We will assist you in completing the application forms, arranging for appropriate medical testing and diagnostic services, responding to the requests from the coal companies, evaluating your case, and professionally pursuing your claim in court.

Each claim requires various legal filings as well as proceedings before a court and the process can take years before a final determination is made. At Lungs at Work, we determine the facts and the evidence to present so that the decision makers will have the relevant information for a proper decision.

We will be with you in this process until a final decision has been made.
